Juila fell into yoga to heal a running injury about 30 years ago. She had no idea at that time how she would lean on yoga through every trial, tribulation, win and loss throughout my life. It still amazes me that simply combining breath with movement empowers us to walk through life with greater kindness, strength and perseverance. Vinyasa, restorative, yin and kundalini styles are her favorites. In 2015, Julia obtained teacher certification, at the request of her workplace, to help adolescents with mental health challenges - so many yoga poses are both empowering and soothing. She's also taught a number of classes for equestrians that are focused on hip flexibility and strength.
Julia is coming back to teaching, after several year break, for two reasons: 1. Putting down deep roots in Dillon and seeking way to provide healing movement and foster community. 2. The opportunity to provide yoga in a donation based and perhaps, eventually grant supported organization is highly appealing. She strongly believes that yoga should be accessible to all and never a financial barrier for anyone.
Julia is a nurse with a strong interest in mental health and wellness. Currently, she works as the Program Director of Barrett Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions – an intensive outpatient program dedicated to the mental health needs of older adults. She is a certified aromatherapy nurse and also reiki trained. She enjoys providing reiki treatment for horses and helping them recover from injuries or trauma. Julia and her husband their animal family very much. They have two mules, one large pony, a young miniature horse and a very smart and far too large, German Shepherd. On their off days, they are nearly always in the mountains – hiking, riding, fishing, hunting, skiing and snowshoeing.
